BREAKING NEWS

One of the fastest pro-mod runs ever took place just before a thunderstorm washed out the remainder of the event. Tommy Gray, from Baltimore, ran a 5.903 -- which would've been the fastest run ever in IHRA history if he ran in during the President's Cup Nationals.  That is, according to our records, the third fastest legal pro mod run ever.  It would also be the fastest pro-mod run ever on the American East Coast.  Raymond Commisso's 5.884-second run at Houston Raceway Park earlier this year holds the record for being the fastest pro-mod run ever.

The Legend is Back! thumbnail

The Legend is Back!

For the first time in years, Maryland International Raceway will be hosting the U.S. Pro Stock Open.  The event features the top pro stock teams in the country, many from the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series.  The event is a legend in the region, and was one a premiere event for top pro stock teams in the nation.  Well, the event seemingly died as top pro stock teams weren't coming out.  For a while, it wasn't even on the schedule.

It's back.  Royce Miller, Maryland International Raceway track president, has ressurected the race from the dead and brought it back as one of many ways he had improved the Maryland International Raceway throughout the 2008 season.

The race is being held on Wednesday, October 8, 2008, at the Maryland International Raceway just off Route 234 in Budds Creek, MD.  Admission for the event is $20.  RacingForTheWin.com will have periodic updates on the event and mirdrag.com has more information about this drag racing spectacle.
