Kyle Busch Wins Nashville 200

By Summer Dreyer on Friday, 2nd April 2010

In a dominating performance at Nashville Superspeedway, Kyle Busch drove to the victory in the Nashville 200 in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Leading three times for 131 of the 150 laps run, Busch made it look easy with almost no challengers. The only other two leaders in the Nashville 200 were Timothy Peters (17) and Todd Bodine (2).

The race was relatively uneventful, as there were only two cautions throughout the 200-mile race: one for debris and one for the No. 51 truck of Aric Almirola. Otherwise, the race went incident free and made for the quickest ever race at Nashville Superspeedway.

Kevin Harvick finished second behind Busch, and made a late charge for the lead at the end of the race. However, he was unable to catch the No. 18 truck that had been so dominant the entire night. Harvick would come up short for his bid for five wins in a row. Kevin Harvick Inc. driver Ron Hornaday Jr. remains the only driver to win five races in a row in Truck Series competition.

Hornaday finished in the third position, followed by Peters, with Bodine rounding out the top five.

Peters remains the points leader in the driver points standings. Almirola is second, 82 points back; Bodine is third, 93 points back; Harvick is fourth, 106 points back; and Matt Crafton is fifth, 128 points back. Busch is 10th in the standings, 199 points back. Neither Busch nor Harvick are running the entire Truck Series schedule.

A month from now, the Truck Series will head to Kansas Speedway for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 250. Mike Skinner is the defending champion of the event.
