Well, the weekend is over, the campgrounds are empty, and Texas Race Fans are trying to figure out how they’re going to live for 6 months until April’s Samsung 500. Fuel mileage played into both the Sprint Cup and Camping World races, as Kyle Busch Toyota got exceptional fuel mileage via the smaller tapered spacer, and Kyle Busch’s Toyota ran out of gas due to pitting 2 laps before his brother Kurt, who went on to win the race in his Dodge. While the attendance for the Camping World Truck Series and the Nationwide Series were dismal, the Sprint Cup Series race took place in front of an estimated 167,000 fans, down only 4,000 from last fall’s estimated attendance, 171,000.
While race sponsors Bombardier (the June IRL race sponsor) and Dickies will not be returning for 2010, the April race has moved by one week, and will be a triple header featuring ARCA, the NASCAR Nationwde Series, and the stars of the NASCAR Sprint cup series.
Sam Hornish did Martin and Gordon a favor, as he got into Johnson on lap 3, putting him many laps down as his crew worked to completely rebuild the front and back of his racecar. However, later in the race, Gordon spun to avoid another accident, and broke a splitter brace and flat spotted his tires, placing him at the tail end of the field due to pitting with the pits closed.
Most of my media from last weekend is online. A Detailed database of that media will be avaliable soon.
